India’s young dreamers are set to get a big opportunity, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepares to launch a ₹62,500 crore mission on October 4 to open up new pathways in skills, education, and jobs. The announcement comes as the government looks to channel the energy of India’s youth into building a more employable and future-ready workforce.
There are two important schemes as part of this programme, PM Vishwakarma and the newly announced PM-SETU (Skill Enhancement and Technical Upgradation). Together, they will give a fresh makeover to 1,000 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), with smarter classrooms, modern equipment, and industry-linked courses. For school students, over 1,200 vocational labs will open across 34 states and Union Territories, introducing skill-based lessons early on so youngsters can connect classroom knowledge with real-life careers.
A large part of the announcement will be felt in Bihar, where the Prime Minister will unveil projects worth more than ₹20,000 crore. These include monthly stipends for graduates and diploma holders to help them prepare for jobs, interest-free education loans, new college and university buildings, and upgraded skill training centres.
Officials say the drive is not just about infrastructure but about ensuring every young person, whether in a village or a city, gets a fair chance to learn, earn, and grow. With India’s youth forming the core of its workforce, the government sees this push as vital to powering the country’s economic future.
