In the bustling city of Visakhapatnam, a transformative chapter in India’s digital future is underway. Adani Enterprises has teamed up with Google and Bharti Airtel to create India’s largest artificial intelligence data centre campus, a landmark project set to redefine the nation’s technology landscape. Over the next five years, Google plans to invest nearly USD 15 billion to build a state-of-the-art AI hub powered entirely by renewable energy.
The campus will feature gigawatt-scale data infrastructure, advanced energy storage systems, new transmission lines, and a strategic international subsea cable link, merging sustainability with cutting-edge technology. Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, said the Vizag facility will be one of the largest AI centres outside the United States, designed to empower Indian enterprises, startups, and government innovation initiatives.
Calling the partnership “an investment in the soul of a rising nation,” Gautam Adani envisions Visakhapatnam as a global epicentre for technology and innovation. The project aligns with Andhra Pradesh’s ambitious target of developing 6 GW of data centre capacity by 2029 and advances India’s broader goal of becoming a world leader in artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure.
For Google, the venture underscores a long-term commitment to India, its largest user base, and marks a significant step toward strengthening the country’s digital self-reliance and global technology influence.
