YouTube has introduced its first-ever year-end Recap feature for 2025, allowing users to review and reflect on their video-watching habits throughout the year. Unlike previous summaries, which focused mainly on music through YouTube Music’s “Wrapped,” this Recap covers a broader range of content, including creators, genres, and overall user engagement. The feature is designed to offer both personalized insights and global trend highlights, giving users a full picture of how they interacted with the platform in 2025.
The Recap experience is built around interactive “cards,” with each user receiving up to 12 of them. These cards reveal top channels and content categories, changes in viewing patterns, and even assign a personality type based on watch history, such as “Sunshiner,” “Wonder Seeker,” “Creative Spirit,” “Connector,” “Dreamer,” or “Philosopher.” For music enthusiasts, Recap also shows top artists and songs, along with information on genres and listening patterns. However, the insights depend on a user’s watch history; those who have auto-deletion enabled or paused history may receive incomplete summaries.
The recap feature is easy. Users can find it on the YouTube app or desktop by visiting the “You” tab or by navigating directly to youtube.com/Recap. The feature has initially launched in North America and is expanding globally over the coming week. It is available on both desktop and mobile devices, ensuring accessibility for a wide audience.
Alongside personal summaries, YouTube has shared global 2025 highlights, listing the year’s top creators, trending videos, songs, podcasts, and cultural phenomena. Among creators, MrBeast retained the top spot globally, reflecting his continued dominance on the platform. Trending content includes a mix of gaming phenomena, popular series, and viral videos, showcasing the diversity of user interests over the year. Podcasts and musical trends also feature, giving creators and audiences alike a sense of what shaped YouTube in 2025.
YouTube Recap aims to create a reflective and engaging experience, enabling users to see how their content consumption evolved, compare their habits with broader global trends, and celebrate the creators and content that defined the year. With its combination of personalized insights and cultural highlights, the feature is YouTube’s first step toward offering a comprehensive, year-end digital summary akin to Spotify Wrapped, but for video and multimedia content.
This feature also positions YouTube to deepen user engagement and maintain a personal connection with its audience, encouraging sharing of highlights on social media and discussions around viewing patterns.
