Anmol Bishnoi arrested, sent to 11-day NIA custody

Gangster Lawrence  Bishnoi’s brother brought from the US. NIA to probe Baba Siddique murder, other crimes

Anmol Bishnoi, younger brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, was brought back to India after being deported from the United States. On his arrival in Delhi, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested him in connection with the murder of politician Baba Siddique and other criminal cases.

A Delhi court (Patiala House Court) has now sent Anmol to 11 days of NIA custody for questioning. The agency had requested 15 days, but the court approved 11 days to allow investigators to grill him about his alleged involvement in serious crimes.

Anmol is accused of playing a key role in a network of gangsters and criminals, coordinating operations from abroad. He is suspected of involvement in several high-profile cases, including the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala and a shooting outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence.

The NIA said he ran extortion rackets, issued threats, and facilitated crimes using encrypted communication while staying in the US. He allegedly provided logistical support to gang operatives and was involved in terrorism-related crimes between 2020 and 2023.

Authorities revealed that Anmol had fled India in April 2022 using a fake passport. A reward of ₹10 lakh had been announced for information leading to his arrest. His deportation and arrest mark a major step in India’s crackdown on cross-border gangster networks.

The investigation by the NIA aims to uncover how Anmol coordinated criminal activities from abroad and to identify others involved in the syndicate. Officials say this case highlights the growing challenge of gangs operating internationally and the need for tight coordination with foreign agencies to bring fugitives to justice.

Anmol’s questioning is expected to provide critical leads in multiple high-profile cases and help law enforcement agencies dismantle the network that has been accused of serious crimes in India over the past few years.
