Nov 6 and 11- Bihar Assembly Polls, Results on Nov 14

Two voting dates are scheduled to welcome migrant voters back home post Chhath festival, to maximize voter turnout.

The wait is over, and now Bihar will vote in two phases this November 2025. The Election Commission of India on Monday announced that the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 will be held on November 6 and November 11, with counting of votes on November 14.

This marks the first Bihar Assembly poll since the pandemic-era elections of 2020, which were held in three phases under strict COVID-19 guidelines. The upcoming election will focus on accessibility and efficiency, underscoring a return to electoral normalcy.

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, flanked by Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi, unveiled the poll schedule during a press briefing in New Delhi. The elections come as the term of the 243-member Bihar Legislative Assembly ends on November 22.

The two-phase schedule is expected to set off a high-stakes battle between the ruling NDA and the opposition INDIA bloc. Several political parties had earlier requested that polling be held after the Chhath festival, celebrated in late October, to facilitate the participation of returning migrant workers and ensure a higher voter turnout.

Announcing new measures for transparency and voter convenience, the Commission said it will implement 100% webcasting at polling stations, set up mobile phone deposit counters, and improve facilities for voters and polling staff.

With the schedule now set, political activity in Bihar is expected to pick up pace as parties finalise candidates and fine-tune their campaign strategies ahead of the November vote.
