A Delhi court on Tuesday extended the National Investigation Agency’s (NIA) custody of four accused in the November 10 Red Fort car‑bombing case by four more days. The accused include three doctors — Dr Muzammil Ganai, Dr Adeel Rather, Dr Shaheena Saeed and preacher Maulvi Irfan Ahmed Wagay. Their previous 10‑day remand had ended recently.
So far, seven people have been arrested in connection with the blast, which claimed 15 lives and injured several others. Investigators are examining the possibility of a broader “white‑collar” terror network behind the attack and are pursuing leads across multiple states to identify and apprehend other individuals involved.
Authorities said the extended custody is crucial for questioning the accused and uncovering more details about the planning, execution, and logistics of the attack. The NIA is also working to determine whether the accused had support networks or access to resources that facilitated the blast.
Meanwhile, as part of the ongoing investigation, the NIA conducted searches in forested hideouts in the Mattan area of Anantnag district in south Kashmir. These raids, reportedly based on disclosures from two accused, aimed to locate possible hideouts, bomb‑making materials, or logistical support linked to the Red Fort attack. Local police and security forces assisted in the operation.
The investigation continues to focus on both questioning the accused in custody and exploring potential remote bases or hideouts that may have supported the terror activities. Authorities say further developments are expected as the probe intensifies.
