Droupadi Murmu installs Ram Yantra in Ayodhya

President highlights link between Lord Ram’s ideals and national values during temple visit

President Droupadi Murmu visited Ram Temple Ayodhya and participated in a significant religious ceremony, where she installed the sacred “Shri Ram Yantra” within the temple premises.

The visit coincided with the festival of Chaitra Navratri, an important period in the Hindu calendar that marks the beginning of the New Year. During the ceremony, the President offered prayers and took part in traditional rituals conducted by priests, accompanied by Vedic chants.

The Ram Yantra, a specially designed spiritual structure weighing about 150 kilograms and plated with gold, is believed to represent harmony, positive energy, and prosperity. Rooted in ancient traditions, it is seen as a symbolic addition to the temple, enhancing its spiritual significance.

Addressing the gathering, President Murmu spoke about the relevance of Lord Ram’s teachings in modern India. She emphasised that the ideals associated with “Ram Rajya”—such as justice, equality, and good governance—can serve as guiding principles for the country’s growth and development.

She also drew a connection between devotion to Lord Ram and a sense of national pride, suggesting that cultural and spiritual values play a key role in shaping the nation’s identity. Highlighting Ayodhya’s importance, she described it as a major centre of faith and tradition, now gaining prominence on the global stage.

The event was attended by religious leaders, officials, and a large number of devotees. Rituals and cultural programmes were organised as part of the celebrations, reflecting the significance of the occasion.
