Former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga passed away at the age of 80 in Kochi, India, on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. Reports indicate that Odinga suffered a cardiac arrest during a morning walk at an Ayurvedic facility in Koothattukulam, Kerala. He was rushed to Devamatha Hospital, where he was pronounced dead around 9:52 AM IST.
Odinga had traveled to India for Ayurvedic treatment, accompanied by his daughter and close family members. His daughter had previously undergone treatment at the Sreedhareeyam Hospital in Thodupuzha.
Odinga was a prominent figure in Kenyan politics, serving as Prime Minister from 2008 to 2013.
