The Government of India has issued an urgent advisory for Indian nationals in Iran, instructing them to stay where they are and remain indoors for the next 48 hours amid escalating regional conflict.
The Indian Embassy in Tehran warned citizens to avoid unnecessary movement, especially near military sites, electrical infrastructure, and tall buildings, which could be at risk if hostilities intensify. The advisory also emphasizes staying in embassy‑arranged accommodations and maintaining regular contact with embassy officials.
Issued yesterday, the guidance comes amid ongoing clashes involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, raising fears of wider instability. Citizens are advised to coordinate any travel within Iran with the embassy and use emergency helplines if needed.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in New Delhi said it is closely monitoring the situation and will continue to provide updates through official channels. While no evacuation has been ordered, the advisory aims to reduce risks to Indian nationals during this critical period.
India has previously assisted in repatriating citizens from conflict zones in West Asia through neighbouring countries like Armenia and Azerbaijan, ensuring safe returns amid rising tensions.
