India Always First to Help, Says PM Modi

PM highlights India’s enduring commitment to the ideal of welfare and harmony for all

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday reaffirmed India’s commitment to standing at the forefront during global emergencies, describing the nation as a “reliable partner” and “first responder” in times of crisis.

Speaking after inaugurating the Shanti Shikhar Centre for Spiritual Learning and Meditation of the Brahma Kumaris in Nava Raipur, Chhattisgarh, the Prime Minister said India’s ethos of compassion and service guides its global outlook.

“Whenever a crisis arises anywhere in the world, whenever a disaster strikes, India steps forward as a reliable partner to provide help. India is always the first responder,” he said, addressing a large gathering.

PM Modi added that India’s values are rooted in the principle of universal welfare. “We are those who see Shiva in every living being. In our tradition, every religious ritual concludes with the proclamation that may the world prosper and may goodwill prevail among all beings,” he said.

Emphasizing that India’s progress is linked to the progress of its states, PM Modi reiterated his government’s focus on Viksit Bharat, or a developed India, through inclusive and state-driven growth. “Our government’s mantra is the development of the country through the development of the states,” he said. “In this crucial journey towards a developed India, institutions like the Brahma Kumaris have a very significant role to play.”

The Prime Minister also reflected on his long association with the Brahma Kumaris, saying, “I have been connected with all of you for several decades now. I am not a guest here; I am one of you.”

The event coincided with the 25th Foundation Day of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Uttarakhand. Extending greetings to the residents of these states, PM Modi said, “Today is a very special day. Many states are marking their foundation day today. I extend my heartiest congratulations to the residents of all these states.”

Earlier in the day, as part of the Dil Ki Baat programme, the Prime Minister interacted with 2,500 children who successfully underwent treatment for congenital heart diseases under the Gift of Life initiative at Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital in Nava Raipur. Former Indian cricket captain Sunil Gavaskar was also present during the interaction.

Later in the evening, PM Modi is scheduled to take part in the Chhattisgarh Rajat Mahotsav celebrations, marking 25 years of the state’s formation. During his visit, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for projects worth ₹14,260 crore spanning roads, industry, healthcare, and energy sectors.

The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the new building of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly and unveil a statue of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
