Punjab Police Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Harcharan Singh Bhullar was arrested by the CBI on Friday for allegedly demanding bribes to settle a scrap dealer’s case.
A complaint revealed that Bhullar allegedly extorted ₹5 lakh monthly via a middleman.
Searches recovered ₹5 crore in cash, 1.5 kg of gold, 22 luxury watches, firearms, and documents linked to over 50 properties. Bhullar, a 2009-batch IPS officer, was sent to 14-day judicial custody.
He denies all allegations, claiming he has been framed in a conspiracy.
