Trump pushes DOJ to probe Epstein-democrat links

Justice Department looks into Epstein’s ties to Clinton and other prominent figures

The US Justice Department has agreed to investigate Jeffrey Epstein’s links with former President Bill Clinton and other high-profile figures, following a request by President Donald Trump. Attorney General Pam Bondi announced that Jay Clayton, the top federal prosecutor in Manhattan, will lead the inquiry.

The decision comes just days after Congress released tens of thousands of documents shedding light on Epstein’s complex network of associates. Trump has repeatedly asserted that Epstein’s activities were largely connected to Democrats and has urged authorities to look into Clinton, former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, and LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman, all of whom appear in the newly released files.

While the investigation has been initiated, there is no verified evidence that Clinton, Summers, or Hoffman were involved in Epstein’s criminal activities. All three have denied any wrongdoing and expressed regret for their past associations.

JPMorgan, which maintained a business relationship with Epstein from 1998 to 2013, issued a statement expressing regret for the association but insisted that it did not support or facilitate any of Epstein’s crimes.

Legal experts caution that the investigation could face scrutiny if it is perceived as politically motivated, warning that it risks being labeled a “vindictive prosecution” due to its origin from Trump’s public pressure. The DOJ’s prior review of Epstein-related cases concluded there was no evidence to open investigations against uncharged third parties, but the new inquiry will re-examine connections in light of the released documents.
