Vantara to set up global wildlife university

New Jamnagar institute to train experts in animal care and conservation

Vantara has announced plans to launch a global university focused on wildlife and veterinary sciences in Jamnagar, Gujarat. The initiative aims to create a dedicated space for learning, research and hands-on training in animal care and conservation.

The project is being led by Anant Ambani, who has been actively involved in wildlife rescue and rehabilitation efforts through Vantara. The launch marks a major step in expanding these efforts into education and training.

The university plans to offer a wide range of courses, including undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Students will be able to study subjects like wildlife medicine, veterinary sciences, animal behaviour, genetics and conservation policy. The idea is to prepare professionals who can work in different areas of wildlife protection.

What sets this university apart is its focus on practical learning. Along with classroom teaching, students are expected to gain real-world experience through fieldwork and exposure to ongoing conservation projects. This will help them better understand the challenges involved in protecting wildlife.

The institution also aims to collaborate with international organisations and universities to bring global expertise to India. It is expected to include advanced research facilities and offer scholarships to support students from diverse backgrounds.

According to the organisers, the goal is to build a new generation of skilled professionals who can contribute to conservation efforts both in India and around the world. The university will combine modern scientific methods with traditional knowledge to create a balanced approach to learning.
