Russian President Vladimir Putin has reportedly offered a deal to the United States involving two major global issues, Iran and the ongoing war in Ukraine. However, the US has rejected the proposal.
According to reports, Russia suggested that it would stop sharing intelligence with Iran if the United States agreed to stop providing intelligence and military support to Ukraine. The offer was said to have been communicated through Russian officials during recent discussions with US representatives.
The idea behind the proposal was to reduce tensions in the Middle East by limiting Iran’s access to sensitive information, while also pushing the US to step back from supporting Ukraine in its conflict with Russia.
However, US officials turned down the offer. They did not agree to reduce support for Ukraine, which remains a key ally in its ongoing war against Russia. The rejection also reflects Washington’s broader stance of continuing assistance to Kyiv despite pressure from Moscow.
The reported proposal has raised concerns among Western countries. Some officials believe Russia may be trying to use its relationship with Iran as a bargaining tool to gain an advantage in the Ukraine conflict. By linking two separate issues, Moscow may be attempting to shift negotiations in its favour.
At the same time, Russian authorities have denied making any such conditional offer. They have said that Russia values its ties with Iran and is not looking to trade those relations for concessions from the US.
The situation highlights how global conflicts are becoming increasingly connected. Decisions made in one region, such as Eastern Europe, are now directly affecting dynamics in another, like the Middle East.
