India’s Parliament will meet for its winter session from Monday, December 1 to Thursday, December 19, announced Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju. The dates have been officially approved by President Draupadi Murmu.
Taking to X, Mr Rijiju expressed hope that the session will be “constructive and meaningful,” serving the aspirations of the people and strengthening the country’s democracy.
This session comes just after the Bihar Assembly elections, adding political significance. Opposition parties are expected to raise tough questions on issues such as electoral roll revisions, alleged vote irregularities, and governance matters across states.
The previous Monsoon Session saw many disruptions, with almost two‑thirds of sitting time lost, making this winter session all the more crucial for completing key business.
Among the major items expected are bills like the Constitution (130th Amendment) Bill, 2025, changes to the Government of Union Territories Act, and amendments to the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act. Debates, discussions, and question-hours are likely to be lively, reflecting the country’s pressing governance and policy concerns.
Despite being only 19 days long, the session is seen as an important opportunity for Parliament to address significant national issues before the year ends.
