OpenAI has introduced “Your Year with ChatGPT”, a tech-centric, personalised year-end recap for ChatGPT users, rolling out from December 22, 2025. Inspired by the Spotify Wrapped concept, the feature delivers a comprehensive review of user interactions with ChatGPT over the past year, combining usage analytics with AI-generated insights.
The recap highlights key metrics such as total messages exchanged, number of chats, peak interaction days, and recurring conversation themes. Users also receive personalised badges and awards, like “Creative Debugger” or “Curious Explorer,” reflecting how they leveraged the AI. These recognitions are gamified elements aimed at enhancing user engagement.
Access to the recap requires enabling “reference saved memories” and “chat history” in ChatGPT settings. Users can trigger the feature via the app interface or through prompts like “Show me my year with ChatGPT.” It is available on Android, iOS, and web platforms for Go (India), Plus, and Pro plan users, while Team, Enterprise, and Education accounts currently do not have access.
Beyond statistics, OpenAI incorporates AI-generated content to make the recap visually and narratively compelling. Each summary includes a short custom poem summarising the year, along with pixel art representations inspired by the topics most discussed. This approach merges quantitative analysis with creative storytelling, showcasing the versatility of AI in user experience design.
The feature is being gradually rolled out across key markets including India, the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Australia, and New Zealand. By providing this annual AI-driven recap, OpenAI is positioning ChatGPT alongside other digital platforms offering personalised, data-centric summaries, reinforcing the platform’s focus on user engagement, interaction insights, and creative AI applications.
