Bengaluru on alert after suspected Ebola case

Ugandan woman with Ebola-like symptoms placed under medical observation

Health authorities in Karnataka have issued an alert after a woman from Uganda showed symptoms suspected to be linked to Ebola in Bengaluru. The woman, who recently arrived in the city, developed fever and other symptoms soon after her travel, prompting immediate medical attention.

Officials said the patient has been isolated at a designated hospital, where she is under close observation. Samples have been sent for testing to confirm whether it is Ebola or another viral infection.

The Karnataka Health Department has intensified surveillance across Bengaluru, especially at the airport, while contact tracing has also begun to identify people who may have interacted with the woman.

The Union Health Ministry is monitoring the situation and has asked states to remain cautious. Authorities clarified that no confirmed Ebola case has been reported in India so far.

As a precaution, hospitals and airports in several states have increased screening measures for international passengers, particularly those arriving from African countries.

Health experts urged people not to panic, saying emergency protocols are already in place and the situation is being handled carefully. Final test results are expected soon.
