Anthropic signs long-term AI chip deal

Google and Broadcom to power next phase of growth

AI firm Anthropic has teamed up with Google and Broadcom in a long-term agreement to secure the computing power needed for its future growth.

The partnership focuses on providing Anthropic with access to advanced AI chips and large-scale computing infrastructure. The company will rely on Google’s Tensor Processing Units (TPUs), which are specially built to handle artificial intelligence workloads more efficiently than traditional chips.

As AI models become more complex, companies like Anthropic require massive computing resources to train and operate them. This deal is expected to provide the company with significant computing capacity over the coming years, helping it scale its operations.

Broadcom’s role in the partnership is to support the design and production of custom chips used in Google’s systems. The long-term nature of the agreement ensures continued development of next-generation AI hardware.

Anthropic plans to use this increased capacity to improve its AI systems and meet rising global demand. Its chatbot, Claude, is among the key products expected to benefit from the expanded infrastructure.

The deal also reflects a growing trend in the AI industry, where companies are locking in long-term partnerships to secure essential resources like chips and cloud computing. With competition intensifying, access to reliable infrastructure has become crucial.

For Google, the collaboration boosts its position in the AI and cloud space, while Broadcom strengthens its foothold in the semiconductor market.
