Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been awarded Sweden’s prestigious Royal Order of the Polar Star, Degree Commander Grand Cross, one of the country’s highest honours given to foreign leaders. The award was presented during a special ceremony in Gothenburg, recognising his contribution to diplomacy and international cooperation.
The honour was conferred by Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden during Modi’s official visit to the country. The award recognises efforts in strengthening bilateral relations and promoting global engagement between nations.
The Royal Order of the Polar Star, established in 1748, is among Sweden’s oldest and most respected honours. It is traditionally awarded to foreign citizens and international leaders for distinguished service and contributions that support stronger relations between countries.
After receiving the award, Prime Minister Modi expressed gratitude and dedicated the honour to the people of India. He said the recognition reflects the growing partnership and long-standing friendship between India and Sweden.
