Four gangsters killed in Gurugram encounter

Three policemen injured during operation after businessman's house came under attack

Four alleged gangsters were killed in a police encounter in Gurugram during the early hours of Friday, following an intensive operation launched after a recent attack on a local businessman’s house. Three police personnel were also injured in the exchange of fire but are reported to be out of danger.

According to Haryana Police, the suspects were linked to the Deepak Nandal gang and were wanted in connection with the firing at the residence of a businessman in Gurugram a few days ago. Acting on specific intelligence about their location, teams from the Gurugram Crime Branch and other police units launched a joint operation to intercept the accused.

When police attempted to stop the gangsters, they allegedly opened fire, triggering a fierce gun battle. Officials said more than 60 rounds were exchanged during the encounter. The four accused sustained fatal injuries and were declared dead after being taken to hospital.

Three police personnel suffered gunshot injuries during the operation and were immediately shifted for treatment. Authorities said their condition is stable and they are receiving medical care.

Police recovered several sophisticated firearms, a large quantity of ammunition and a vehicle believed to have been used by the gang. Forensic teams later examined the encounter site while investigators began collecting evidence to establish the sequence of events.

Preliminary investigations suggest the gang members were involved in multiple criminal cases, including extortion, attempted murder and illegal possession of weapons. The recent attack on the businessman’s residence had heightened security concerns in Gurugram, prompting the police to intensify efforts to track down those responsible.

Senior police officials described the operation as a major breakthrough in the crackdown on organised crime in the region. They said investigations are continuing to determine whether the gang had links with other criminal networks operating in Haryana and neighbouring states.

The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem examination, while separate inquiries into the encounter are being carried out as per standard legal procedure.
