Google Expands AI Search Across 7 Indian Languages

Google’s latest update brings AI Search closer to everyday Indian users through voice, visuals, and vernaculars

Google is making online search in India smarter and more personal, with AI that now understands seven additional regional languages. The update adds support for Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu,  joining English and Hindi. Now users can find information in the language they use most naturally.

The important aspect of this upgrade is Google’s custom Gemini AI model, which is designed to grasp the context of questions and deliver answers in a conversational, intuitive way. The goal is to make searching online feel more like a natural dialogue than a mechanical process.

You will get to see, speak, and search smarter. One standout addition is Search Live, a feature that turns your phone into a real-time question tool. Using your voice or camera, you can point at objects and ask whatever comes to mind, from “What can I cook with these vegetables?” to “Are these shoes good for running?”

Powered by Google Lens and AI, the feature blends visual recognition with understanding spoken queries, delivering answers instantly. The result is a search experience that feels closer to interacting with a person who can see and hear what you do.

The new languages and Search Live will begin appearing for Indian users this week via the Google app and Google Lens, with broader access in the days ahead.

By embracing India’s linguistic diversity and making search more visual and interactive, Google is positioning itself as not just a provider of information but a bridge between technology and everyday life.
