NIA raids eight Kashmir sites in car blast probe

Searches target suspects linked to Red Fort car explosion

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday carried out coordinated raids at eight locations across South Kashmir as part of the ongoing investigation into the Red Fort car blast that killed 13 people and injured over 30. The operations focused on identifying the wider network behind the attack and gathering crucial evidence from suspected associates.

The raids took place in Pulwama, Shopian, and Kulgam districts, targeting homes linked to individuals allegedly part of a white‑collar terror module associated with the militant group Ansar Ghazwat ul Hind. Among those searched were the residences of Dr Adeel Ahmad Rather (Kulgam), Dr Muzamil Shakeel Ganai (Pulwama), and cleric Maulvi Irfan Ahmad Wagay (Shopian). The house of Amir Rashid in Pulwama was also included in the operations.

All four individuals had previously been arrested by Jammu & Kashmir Police in connection with the module. The investigation revealed the involvement of several doctors, including Dr Umar Nabi, who is believed to have driven the vehicle used in the deadly explosion at the Red Fort metro station.

Authorities have recovered substantial material during earlier searches, including more than 350 kilograms of ammonium nitrate and other explosives. Electronic devices, financial records, and documents were seized during the recent raids to help map out the module’s operations, financing channels, and logistical support networks.

The NIA has already arrested several key suspects, including doctors, clerics, and associates like Jasir Bilal Wani. Officials stated that Monday’s raids are aimed at uncovering further evidence to dismantle the terror network completely and prevent future attacks.

Investigators are focusing on tracing links between the arrested individuals and potential collaborators across India, as well as identifying any additional funding sources. The agency emphasized that the probe is ongoing and that all leads are being followed meticulously to ensure that no element of the network remains active.
