India objects to China-Pak remarks on J & K

New Delhi reiterates sovereignty concerns over remarks in joint statemen

India has strongly objected to references to Jammu and Kashmir in a joint statement issued by China and Pakistan, calling the remarks “unwarranted” and reaffirming that the region remains an integral part of the country.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said India has consistently conveyed its position on Jammu and Kashmir and made it clear that no country has any role or standing in matters related to the Union Territory. The government also stressed that issues concerning Jammu and Kashmir are strictly internal affairs.

India’s response came after the China–Pakistan joint statement reportedly referred to Jammu and Kashmir and touched upon matters linked to regional infrastructure and development projects. New Delhi also raised concerns over references to projects in territories that India considers part of its sovereign land.

India has repeatedly objected to projects and initiatives passing through areas it says are under illegal occupation by Pakistan, maintaining that such activities affect its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Diplomatic observers noted that India’s response remains consistent with its long-held position that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of the country and that it opposes any external comments or involvement related to the matter.

This response comes against the backdrop of evolving regional dynamics and strategic cooperation between China and Pakistan. The issue also gains significance as India and China continue efforts to stabilise bilateral relations following previous border tensions.
