Tamil television actress Subashini Balasubramaniyam, known for her role in the serial Kayal, was found dead in her rented apartment in Iyyappanthangal, Chennai, on April 6. She was 36 years old. Police are investigating the case, and initial reports suggest it could be a suspected suicide.
Authorities said Subashini was discovered at home after her husband, Bipin Chandran, tried to contact her via video call. Neighbours also reported seeing some disturbance earlier that day. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her body has been sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Originally from Sri Lanka, Subashini had carved a niche for herself in Tamil television and films. Along with Kayal, she appeared in movies like Ellaam Mela Irukuravan Paathuppan (2023) and Web (2023), earning praise for her acting and charm. She had a loyal fan following who admired her work and friendly personality.
In the days before her death, Subashini shared a short Instagram video of herself walking through a peaceful forest, smiling and looking relaxed. She captioned it “Life Lately,” which many fans have now pointed out as a bittersweet reminder of how life can be unpredictable.
Fans and colleagues have expressed shock and grief over her sudden passing. Many have paid tribute online, remembering her warmth, talent, and the joy she brought on screen. They described her death as a tragic loss to the Tamil entertainment industry.
