US President Donald Trump has said he does not plan to use nuclear weapons against Iran, while warning that Tehran is running out of time to reach an agreement with Washington. His remarks come at a time of rising tension and uncertainty in the Middle East.
Speaking to reporters, Trump said nuclear weapons should not be used and made it clear that he was not considering that option in dealing with Iran. He added that Iran had already faced serious military pressure through conventional means, suggesting there was no need for further escalation.
At the same time, Trump increased pressure on Tehran by saying the country had little time left to make a deal. In a separate message, he said the “clock is ticking,” signalling that the US wants faster movement toward an agreement.
His comments come as hopes for fresh talks remain uncertain. Reports suggest indirect negotiations through mediators have slowed, with both sides sticking firmly to their positions. Trump has also said he is not interested in a rushed settlement and wants a long-term solution instead of a temporary arrangement.
The ongoing tensions have kept attention on the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil shipping routes. Any disruption in the area could impact global energy supplies and raise crude oil prices. Because of this, governments and markets are closely following every new development.
Trump’s statement ruling out nuclear action may calm some immediate fears of a wider conflict. However, his sharp warning also shows that pressure from Washington remains strong.
