Veteran actor Bharat Kapoor has died at the age of 80 in Mumbai after suffering serious health complications. He was admitted to Sion Hospital, where his condition worsened due to multiple organ failure, followed by a cardiac arrest, according to reports. He passed away on Monday afternoon.
Kapoor had been unwell for some time before being hospitalised. Despite treatment, his health continued to decline in the final days. His passing was confirmed by close friends and members of the film industry, and his last rites were performed the same day in Mumbai in the presence of family and close associates.
Born in 1945, Bharat Kapoor had a long career spanning Hindi films, television, and theatre. He was best known as a character actor who frequently played strong supporting roles, including villains, police officers, lawyers, and authority figures. His deep voice and intense screen presence made him a recognisable figure in many films across decades.
He featured in several well-known movies such as Noorie, Bazaar, Love Story, Ghulami, Aakhree Raasta, Satyamev Jayate, and Khuda Gawah. Though rarely in lead roles, his performances were often noted for adding strength and depth to the story.
Kapoor also appeared in television shows during the 1990s and 2000s, staying active in the industry over many years. Colleagues have remembered him as a disciplined professional with a calm and humble personality off screen.
