The inauguration of the India Pavilion at the Venice Biennale turned into a blend of art, culture, and high fashion, with the Ambani family drawing attention for their glamorous appearances at the global event.
The pavilion marks India’s return to the prestigious international art exhibition after a gap of seven years. It is presented by the Ministry of Culture in partnership with the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre and Serendipity Arts, and showcases contemporary Indian art focused on themes of memory, migration, and belonging.
At the opening event, Nita Ambani wore a custom-designed saree with intricate embroidery, paired with statement jewellery, reflecting her signature traditional yet elegant style. Isha Ambani opted for a modern fusion look, combining a white shirt with a silk skirt featuring detailed Indian craftsmanship. Radhika Merchant and Shloka Ambani also chose contemporary couture outfits, adding to the event’s high-fashion appeal.
The men in the family, including Mukesh Ambani, Akash Ambani, Anant Ambani, and Anand Piramal, appeared in formal and traditional attire, completing the family’s coordinated presence at the inauguration.
According to reports, the Ambani family’s presence added a strong fashion spotlight to the cultural event, with their outfits blending Indian textiles, modern silhouettes, and luxury styling. The looks were widely noted for reflecting a mix of heritage craftsmanship and global fashion sensibilities.
The India Pavilion itself features works by leading contemporary Indian artists and explores how ideas of home and identity evolve across distance and time. It aims to present a modern narrative of India through large-scale installations and sculptures.
The exhibition has been curated as part of India’s renewed cultural outreach on the global stage, with participation from key cultural institutions and government bodies. It will remain open to visitors throughout the duration of the Biennale in Venice.
