The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Pune-based chemistry lecturer in connection with the alleged NEET-UG 2026 question paper leak case. Officials believe the accused played a central role in the operation, making the arrest a major development in the ongoing investigation.
According to investigators, the accused was allegedly involved in leaking confidential exam content ahead of the medical entrance examination. Authorities suspect that he used his access and connections to share details related to the question paper before the exam took place.
The probe has revealed that selected students may have been given access to important questions and answers during special sessions organised before the examination. Investigators are now examining whether a wider network was involved and if more individuals played a role in the alleged leak.
The CBI has already made multiple arrests in the case and is continuing its investigation across different locations. Officials are also looking into possible links between the accused and others connected to the examination process.
NEET is one of India’s largest entrance tests and is conducted for admissions to undergraduate medical programmes. Any irregularity linked to the examination process affects thousands of students and raises questions about transparency and fairness. The case has once again brought attention to concerns over the security and credibility of major competitive examinations in the country.
