US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a series of high-level meetings during his four-day visit to India, underlining the growing strategic partnership between India and the United States. During his visit, Rubio met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar in New Delhi, where discussions focused on expanding cooperation across multiple sectors and strengthening bilateral relations.
Rubio’s visit also included participation in the Quad Foreign Ministers’ Summit, a key meeting involving India, the United States, Japan and Australia. The summit focused on regional security, economic cooperation and maintaining stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
During his meeting with Prime Minister Modi, both leaders reviewed progress in India-US relations and discussed ways to deepen collaboration in areas such as technology, trade, defence, clean energy and emerging industries. The discussions also touched upon global and regional developments and the importance of continued cooperation between the two countries.
External Affairs Minister Jaishankar also held detailed talks with Rubio, covering a wide range of issues including strategic partnerships, economic engagement and security concerns. Officials highlighted the increasing momentum in India-US ties and the importance of sustained dialogue on shared interests.
Speaking during the visit, Rubio described India as a “vital partner”, reflecting Washington’s emphasis on strengthening ties with New Delhi. The statement highlighted India’s growing role in regional and global affairs and reaffirmed the significance of the partnership between the two democracies.
Rubio’s visit comes at a time when India and the United States continue to increase cooperation in several areas, including defence partnerships, technological development and trade relations. Analysts believe the meetings and discussions held during the visit are likely to further deepen engagement between the two countries and reinforce their shared strategic goals.
