All 28 Chief Ministers attend NITI Aayog meeting

PM Modi calls for faster, inclusive and cooperative development

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the 11th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog in New Delhi, with all 28 chief ministers participating in the high-level policy forum for the first time in recent years.

The meeting brought together chief ministers, lieutenant governors and senior government officials to discuss strategies for accelerating economic growth, improving governance and achieving India’s long-term development goals. The full attendance of all states was seen as a significant display of cooperative federalism.

Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the need for collective efforts between the Centre and states to achieve the vision of a developed India by 2047. He urged states to focus on innovation, infrastructure development, job creation and improvements in education, healthcare and agriculture.

The meeting’s theme centered on promoting inclusive growth and strengthening collaboration among states. Discussions covered a range of issues, including urban development, water management, digital governance, skilling, investment promotion and measures to improve the ease of living for citizens.

Modi highlighted the importance of sharing best practices among states and encouraged governments to adopt successful development models from across the country. He stressed that coordinated policymaking and efficient implementation would be crucial for sustaining India’s economic momentum.

Chief ministers also presented their views on state-specific challenges and development priorities. Several leaders highlighted the need for greater investment in infrastructure, support for agriculture and enhanced opportunities for youth employment and skill development.

NITI Aayog, the government’s premier public policy think tank, plays a key role in fostering cooperation between the Centre and states. The Governing Council serves as its highest decision-making body and provides a platform for discussing national priorities and development strategies.

Officials said the meeting focused on practical solutions and policy coordination to address emerging economic and social challenges. The discussions are expected to help shape future development initiatives at both the national and state levels.
