Anmol Bishnoi seeks surrender in Salman case

Lawrence Bishnoi's brother offers to return, seeks judicial protection during trial

Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and a key accused in the firing outside actor Salman Khan’s Mumbai residence, has approached a Mumbai court seeking permission to surrender before Indian authorities.

Through his legal counsel, Anmol Bishnoi told the court that he wishes to return to India and face trial, while requesting protection of his legal rights during the process. He urged the court to ensure that he receives a fair investigation and trial in accordance with the law.

The move comes months after investigators named Anmol Bishnoi as one of the main conspirators in the April 2024 firing incident outside Salman Khan’s Bandra home. Two motorcycle-borne men had opened fire outside the actor’s residence before fleeing the spot. No one was injured in the attack, but the incident triggered a high-profile investigation by the Mumbai Police and other central agencies.

Investigators have alleged that the attack was linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which has repeatedly issued threats to Salman Khan over the years. Authorities have since arrested several accused believed to have assisted in planning and executing the firing.

Anmol Bishnoi is currently believed to be abroad and has been declared a wanted accused in the case. Multiple agencies have been working to trace his whereabouts, while efforts to secure his extradition have continued.

In his plea, Bishnoi argued that he wants to submit himself before the Indian judicial system instead of being forcibly brought back. He also sought safeguards to ensure that due legal procedure is followed after his surrender.

The Mumbai court is expected to hear the plea before deciding on the request. If permitted, the surrender could mark a significant development in one of the country’s most closely watched criminal investigations.
