CM Vijay offers jobs to Karur victims’ kin

Government extends support to families of 32 victims after tragedy

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay has announced government jobs for the families of all 32 people who lost their lives in the recent Karur stampede, calling it one of the most painful moments of his life. He also said a memorial will be built to honour the victims.

At a meeting with the bereaved families, the Chief Minister said appointment orders for government jobs would be handed over to eligible next of kin as part of the state’s rehabilitation efforts. He assured families that the government would continue to stand by them and provide all possible support.

Describing the tragedy as heartbreaking, Vijay said no amount of compensation could replace the lives lost, but the government was committed to helping affected families rebuild their lives. He said the incident had deeply saddened the entire state and stressed the need to ensure such tragedies are never repeated.

The Chief Minister also announced that a memorial would be constructed in Karur to pay tribute to those who died in the stampede. The memorial, he said, would serve as a lasting reminder of the lives lost and the importance of public safety during large gatherings.

The stampede occurred during a crowded temple event, where thousands of devotees had gathered. The incident claimed 32 lives and left several others injured, prompting widespread grief across Tamil Nadu.

Vijay said the government is reviewing crowd management and safety measures for major public and religious events to prevent similar incidents in the future. Officials have been directed to strengthen emergency preparedness and improve coordination among departments responsible for managing large gatherings.

Family members who met the Chief Minister welcomed the government’s support, saying the job appointments would provide financial security during a difficult period.
