Apple brings back-to-school deals

Education discounts and free accessories aim to attract students before new academic session

Apple has announced its Back to School 2026 campaign in India, offering education discounts and complimentary accessories on select Mac and iPad models. The annual promotion, available until August 27, is targeted at university students, parents purchasing on behalf of eligible students, teachers and educational staff looking to upgrade their devices before the new academic year begins.

The latest offer allows eligible buyers to purchase Apple products at reduced education prices while also receiving free accessories with selected devices. Apple says the campaign is intended to support learning by making its products more accessible for students who increasingly depend on laptops and tablets for classes, assignments, research and creative work.

As part of the promotion, customers buying an eligible MacBook Air, MacBook Pro or the newly introduced MacBook Neo can choose a complimentary pair of AirPods 4 or an AirTag four-pack, depending on the device. Those purchasing an eligible iPad Air or iPad Pro will receive an Apple Pencil at no additional cost, giving students an extra tool for note-taking, drawing, document annotation and classroom collaboration.

Alongside these bundled accessories, Apple is extending its education pricing across eligible Mac and iPad models through the Apple Education Store. The discounted prices make several of the company’s premium devices more affordable compared to their regular retail prices, offering students an opportunity to invest in hardware built for long-term academic use.

To access the promotion, customers must verify their eligibility through Apple’s education programme. Verification can be completed online using UNiDAYS or at Apple retail stores. Eligible groups include university and college students, parents buying for students enrolled in higher education institutions, faculty members and other education employees.

Apple has also continued to offer free engraving on supported products, allowing buyers to personalise their devices without paying extra. Financing options and trade-in programmes are also available, enabling customers to exchange older devices and reduce the cost of purchasing a new Mac or iPad.

The timing of the campaign coincides with the start of admissions at colleges and universities across India, when demand for laptops and tablets typically rises. For many students, buying a reliable computer is one of the most important academic investments, especially for courses involving programming, engineering, graphic design, filmmaking and business studies.

The MacBook Air remains one of Apple’s most popular devices among students because of its lightweight design, long battery life and ability to handle demanding workloads. Meanwhile, the iPad, when paired with an Apple Pencil, has become a preferred digital notebook for many learners, allowing them to organise notes, mark up PDFs, attend online lectures and work on creative assignments from a single device.

Interestingly, Apple’s promotion in India differs from its campaign in markets such as the United States and Canada. Instead of providing Apple Gift Cards with eligible purchases, the company has chosen to bundle free accessories for Indian customers. Industry observers believe this approach offers greater practical value, as many students consider accessories like AirPods and the Apple Pencil essential companions to their devices.

The announcement also comes as competition in the premium education technology segment continues to intensify. Manufacturers including Samsung, Dell, HP, Lenovo and ASUS have launched student-focused offers featuring cashback, exchange bonuses and discounted pricing. Apple’s strategy of combining education discounts with premium accessories is aimed at strengthening its appeal among students seeking a complete learning ecosystem rather than just a standalone laptop or tablet.

India has become an increasingly important market for Apple, with growing adoption of Macs and iPads in schools, colleges and professional education. As digital learning, hybrid classrooms and AI-powered productivity tools become more common, demand for capable computing devices is expected to remain strong.

With the Back to School 2026 campaign now underway, eligible buyers have until August 27 to take advantage of the education pricing and bundled accessories. For students preparing to begin a new semester, the offer presents an opportunity to purchase a Mac or iPad with added value, while educators can also benefit from discounted pricing as they upgrade their teaching and productivity tools.
