What began as a game of suspicion, alliances and carefully guarded secrets ended with the two people viewers were supposed to distrust the most standing together with the trophy.

Actress Krystle D’Souza and content creator Rida Tharana emerged as the joint winners of The Traitors Season 2, sharing the ₹66 lakh prize after successfully keeping their identities hidden until the final stages of the reality show. Hosted by Karan Johar, the season brought together 21 contestants and built its drama around one simple question: who could be trusted?

The answer, as it turned out, was almost nobody.

Krystle entered the game as a Traitor from the beginning. Rida, however, started out as an Innocent before later being brought into the secret group. Their journey to the finale was shaped by a combination of strategy, restraint and the ability to convince other contestants that they were on the same side.

Krystle’s biggest advantage was arguably her ability to stay calm when suspicion began to build around her. She later explained that she deliberately avoided over-explaining herself or becoming defensive because either reaction could have made her look more suspicious.

Instead, she chose when to speak, when to stay quiet and when to let other players argue among themselves. That approach helped her survive several rounds in which other contestants were trying to identify the hidden Traitors.

Her partnership with Rida became the turning point of the season.

Rida had entered the palace as an Innocent and was initially trusted by many contestants. She even correctly identified Kullu as a Traitor, strengthening her position among the Innocents. But her fortunes changed when she was brought into the Traitors’ circle.

The switch was not easy.

Rida admitted after the finale that she had entered the show believing she would struggle to lie to people. Becoming a Traitor meant playing against contestants she had grown close to, while simultaneously trying to protect her new identity.

That tension became one of the more interesting parts of her journey. She had to move from searching for the Traitors to becoming one herself, without allowing the others to notice the change.

By the finale, six contestants remained in contention: Krystle, Rida, Mallika Sherawat, Shalini Passi, Dalip Tahil and Sahil Salathia. The final rounds pushed the players further into the show’s central battle between trust and doubt.

The final stage, known as Shaq aur Bharosa, saw contestants eliminated one after another. Sahil was eliminated first, followed by Shalini, leaving the Traitors increasingly close to victory.

The biggest twist came when Krystle was given an opportunity that could have changed the result completely.

She had a chance to remove Rida from the game. Had she taken it, Krystle could have remained the sole Traitor and potentially taken the entire ₹66 lakh prize for herself.

Instead, she chose to keep Rida.

The decision turned what could have been a solo victory into a joint triumph. Krystle and Rida ultimately revealed that they had been the hidden Traitors, leaving the remaining contestants shocked. Their identities had survived weeks of suspicion, accusations and strategic voting.

The victory for Krystle was the result of maintaining composure under pressure. She described the experience as one where she repeatedly found a way to survive, even when the spotlight turned towards her. For Rida, the ending was even more unexpected. She went from entering the palace as an Innocent to becoming a Traitor and eventually winning the entire game.

The finale also highlighted what makes The Traitors different from conventional reality shows. Contestants are not simply competing in physical tasks or public votes. Much of the game depends on reading people, building alliances and deciding how much truth to reveal.

That made trust as valuable as strategy. A contestant could have the right theory but still lose if nobody believed them. Conversely, someone suspected of being a Traitor could survive simply by convincing others to look elsewhere.

The second season leaned heavily into that psychological element, with murders, betrayals, secret alliances and the recurring Circle of Shaq keeping contestants uncertain about whom they could trust.

The victory has also sparked discussion among viewers, particularly around Rida’s transformation during the game. In the days following the finale, she spoke about the emotional strain of her time on the show and said she sought therapy afterwards. She described the experience as psychologically difficult, offering a glimpse into the pressure that can sit behind the drama seen on screen.

Krystle D’Souza and Rida Tharana have now added their names to the list of reality-show winners, but their victory stands out because they did so while playing the very role everyone else was trying to eliminate.
