NIA arrests Delhi blast suspect’s helper

The Kashmiri man aided suicide bomber in buying the attack vehicle

India’s anti-terror agency, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), has arrested Amir Rashid Ali, a resident of Samboora, Pampore in Jammu & Kashmir. He is accused of helping the suspected suicide bomber, Dr Umar Un Nabi, in the Red Fort car blast in Delhi.

The NIA says Ali came to Delhi to buy a Hyundai i20 car, which was later used in the attack. The car was registered in his name. Investigators confirmed that the driver of the car was Umar Un Nabi, whose DNA matched with his mother’s sample.

Umar Un Nabi, originally from Pulwama, Kashmir, was reportedly an assistant professor in General Medicine at Al Falah University in Faridabad. Another car linked to him has also been seized for investigation.

So far, 73 people, including those injured in the blast, have been questioned. The NIA is working with Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir police to investigate a possible wider terror plot.
