Several districts in Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Ariyalur, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur and Pudukkottai, are expecting heavy to very heavy rainfall.
Due to this, all government, private, and aided schools in Chennai, Chengalpattu and Tiruvallur are closed today.
Schools in other states, like Delhi, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, will operate normally.
The heavy rain is caused by a low-pressure system and cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal, bringing increased moisture to the region.
Authorities have advised people to avoid unnecessary travel, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas, and to stay updated on the weather.
