Former India cricketer and ex-Hyderabad captain Ambati Rayudu has been appointed as the Head of Cricket Operations of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA).
The appointment was approved by the HCA Apex Council and senior officials, and Rayudu will assume charge immediately on a three-year term. In his new role, he will oversee the overall cricketing structure of Hyderabad, including player development, domestic team performance, and operational planning.
Rayudu, who has represented India in international cricket and played extensively in domestic and IPL cricket, is expected to bring his experience into strengthening Hyderabad’s cricket ecosystem. Officials said his appointment is aimed at improving professionalism, transparency, and efficiency within the association’s cricketing activities.
In his new administrative role, Rayudu is expected to focus on talent identification, structured training systems, and better coordination between grassroots and senior-level cricket. The HCA has indicated that player development and strengthening local talent pipelines will be key priorities under his leadership.
The former batter has had a long association with Hyderabad cricket, having started his domestic career with the state team. His return in an official capacity is seen as a significant move for the association as it looks to rebuild and modernise its cricket operations.
Cricket officials believe his on-field experience and understanding of domestic structures will help bridge gaps between players and administration, and support the long-term growth of Hyderabad cricket.
