Apple boosts recycled material use

Tech giant expands use of recycled materials across devices

Apple has stepped up its environmental efforts, revealing that nearly one-third of materials used in its 2025 product lineup were recycled, marking a company record.

The shift comes as part of Apple’s broader sustainability strategy to reduce its environmental footprint and transition toward fully carbon-neutral products by 2030. The company has been redesigning key components to include more recycled inputs, such as metals used in batteries, chips, and device magnets.

Apple also confirmed it has completed the transition to plastic-free packaging, replacing it entirely with fibre-based materials. This move is aimed at cutting waste and improving recyclability across its global supply chain.

Alongside material changes, Apple said it continues to reduce emissions through increased renewable energy use and improved manufacturing efficiency. The company claims its overall emissions are down significantly compared to 2015 levels.

Recycling technology has also become central to its approach, with specialized systems helping recover valuable materials from old devices for reuse in new products.

Apple said it plans to scale these efforts further, positioning recycled materials as a standard part of future product design rather than an exception.
