Centre launches three major health initiatives

Suman 2030, Aarogya Setu 2.0, ambulance network aim to improve healthcare access nationwide

The Centre has unveiled three major healthcare initiatives aimed at improving public health services, expanding digital healthcare and ensuring better emergency and maternal care across the country.

The flagship programme, Suman 2030 (Surakshit Matritva Aashwasan), focuses on providing quality and respectful healthcare for pregnant women, mothers and newborns. The initiative aims to reduce maternal and infant deaths by ensuring timely treatment, safe deliveries and improved healthcare services at public health facilities.

The government also launched Aarogya Setu 2.0, an upgraded version of the health platform introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic. The revamped app is designed to become a comprehensive digital health platform, allowing users to access health records, government health services and wellness information in one place. Officials said the new version will support India’s growing digital healthcare ecosystem and improve access to public health services.

The third initiative focuses on strengthening the country’s ambulance network. The programme seeks to improve emergency medical response by enhancing ambulance availability, integrating services across states and ensuring faster transport for patients, particularly in rural and underserved areas.

The three initiatives were launched as part of the government’s broader effort to build a stronger and more accessible healthcare system. Officials said the programmes align with India’s vision of achieving universal health coverage and improving healthcare outcomes through technology and better infrastructure.
