The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has added Satinderjeet Singh, better known as Goldy Brar, to its Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list, escalating the search for the fugitive over his alleged links to organised crime, targeted killings, extortion and drug trafficking.

The FBI announced the move on September 28 and offered a reward of up to $1 million for information that leads to Brar’s arrest. Singh becomes the 543rd fugitive to be added to the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list since it was created in 1950.

US authorities allege that Brar is a leader of the Lawrence Bishnoi organised crime group’s North American operations. According to the FBI, the group is allegedly involved in violent activities across Southern California, other parts of the US and Canada.

The allegations against the network include targeted assassinations, shootings, murders, kidnappings, extortion, assaults and the trafficking of narcotics and weapons. The FBI has described Singh as armed and dangerous and said he is known to reside in California and parts of Canada.

The FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office said the reward could reach $1 million for information leading to Singh’s arrest. Authorities have asked members of the public not to approach him but instead provide information directly to law enforcement.

FBI officials said placing Singh on the Ten Most Wanted list will significantly increase public awareness of his identity and the search for him.

The agency’s move comes as US authorities step up action against transnational organised crime networks with alleged links to India and operations across North America.

Singh faces several federal charges in the United States. According to the FBI, these include Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organisations (RICO) conspiracy, conspiracy to interfere with and attempted interference with commerce through extortion, and conspiracy to distribute and possess controlled substances with intent to distribute.

A federal arrest warrant was issued for Singh on July 1, 2026, by the US District Court for the Central District of California.

The charges are allegations and have not been established as convictions.

The case forms part of Operation Hardball, a years-long US investigation into India-based transnational organised crime groups. In July, American authorities announced charges against 37 defendants linked to three such groups.

The FBI said one of the indictments focused on the Bishnoi enterprise, with Singh allegedly serving as one of its leaders and helping direct members and associates across different countries.

According to the FBI, Lawrence Bishnoi is an Indian national currently imprisoned in India and is alleged by US authorities to lead a criminal enterprise operating across several countries.

The FBI alleges that Singh acted as one of Bishnoi’s trusted lieutenants and helped manage operations outside India. Authorities say the network used violence and threats to support alleged extortion and other criminal activities.

The FBI also linked the Bishnoi enterprise to an alleged assassination in Canada in June 2023. The victim was a prominent Indian political and religious figure who was living in Canada. US prosecutors have alleged that Bishnoi and Singh were involved in ordering the killing.

Canadian authorities have also been involved in the investigation. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said Singh’s addition to the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list reflected continued cooperation between law enforcement agencies.

The case highlights the international nature of the investigation. US authorities say the alleged criminal network operated across the United States, Canada, India and other countries.

The FBI said Operation Hardball has targeted transnational groups accused of racketeering, targeted killings, shootings, extortion and drug trafficking.

In its latest announcement, the agency said several defendants connected to the investigation have already been arrested or are in custody, while investigators continue to search for remaining fugitives.

Singh is among those still being sought.

The FBI said its investigation is being conducted by its Los Angeles Field Office, the Los Angeles Police Department and the RCMP, with support from other domestic and international law enforcement agencies.

The FBI has appealed to anyone with information about Singh’s whereabouts to contact the agency or a local law enforcement office. Information can also be provided through a US embassy or consulate, and the FBI said anonymous tips are accepted.

Authorities have warned the public against attempting to approach or confront Singh.

The addition to the FBI Most Wanted list puts renewed international attention on the search for Goldy Brar and marks a significant step in the US investigation into alleged India-linked organised crime networks.
