Nothing launches Headphone 1 Pro

Triple drivers, 46dB ANC and 68-hour battery headline the new headphones

Nothing has expanded its premium audio range with the launch of the Headphone (1) Pro, a new over-ear wireless headphone designed to deliver more detailed sound, stronger noise cancellation and longer battery life. The company has moved beyond the single-driver setup of its earlier model, adding three dedicated drivers to each earcup.

The Nothing Headphone (1) Pro was unveiled on September 29 and is priced at $399 in the US, around ₹38,300. This is $100 more than the original Headphone (1), which launched at $299. The new model is available in black and white. Nothing has listed the headphones on its India website, but the company has not yet announced an India price or confirmed local availability.

The biggest change is inside the earcups. The Headphone (1) Pro uses a triple-driver audio system, with each driver handling a different part of the sound spectrum. There is a 40mm dynamic driver for bass, a precision dynamic driver for the midrange and an xMEMS driver designed to handle high frequencies.

Nothing says this setup is aimed at producing deeper bass, clearer vocals and more detailed instruments. The xMEMS driver uses a silicon diaphragm, while the precision driver is designed to improve the texture and clarity of vocals. The headphones support a frequency range of 20Hz to 40,000Hz and carry Hi-Res Audio certification.

The company has also worked with Metropolis Studios in London on the audio tuning. One of the more unusual additions is a physical Flat EQ switch, allowing users to move to a flatter, less processed sound profile. The feature is aimed particularly at listeners who want a more neutral sound for music production or critical listening.

Users also get several sound modes, including Standard, Live House, Club and Concert Hall. A Studio B mode is designed around the sound of Metropolis Studios. The headphones additionally support Dynamic Spatial Audio with head tracking, which adjusts the audio experience as the listener moves their head.

Noise cancellation has received a significant upgrade as well. The Headphone (1) Pro comes with 10 microphones and supports adaptive active noise cancellation of up to 46dB, according to Nothing. The system uses multiple microphones on each side to analyse surrounding noise and adjust cancellation in real time.

There is also a Transparency mode for situations where users need to hear their surroundings. Nothing has added a four-microphone system for calls, with the company aiming to improve voice clarity in noisy environments.

Battery life is another major highlight. The headphones can deliver up to 68 hours of playback with ANC switched off and up to 30 hours with ANC enabled. Using fast charging, a five-minute charge can provide up to four hours of playback with ANC off. The battery has a capacity of 1,060mAh.

Connectivity options include Bluetooth 6.1, USB-C and a 3.5mm audio connection. The headphones support dual-device connectivity, allowing users to stay connected to two devices at the same time. Supported wireless codecs include AAC, SBC and LDAC, while USB-C enables high-resolution audio playback of up to 24-bit/192kHz.

Nothing has retained its distinctive transparent design language but has given the Pro model a more premium build. The headphones use aluminium, titanium and scratch-resistant glass. The company has also widened the headband and increased the padding to improve comfort during longer listening sessions.

The Headphone (1) Pro weighs 327 grams and carries an IP52 rating for protection against dust and limited water exposure. A hard-shell carrying case is included.

Physical controls remain an important part of the design. Instead of relying entirely on touch controls, users can operate the headphones through a volume roller, paddle and buttons. The roller controls volume and playback, while the paddle can be used to skip tracks and manage calls. A dedicated button can also be customised through the Nothing X app.

The company has also introduced Auracast support, allowing compatible audio to be broadcast to multiple headphones. Automatic wear detection pauses playback when the headphones are removed, while Google Fast Pair and Microsoft Swift Pair simplify device connections.

The launch also comes with a major brand move. BTS member V has been named Nothing’s global brand ambassador and features in the company’s campaign for the new headphones. The partnership places the Headphone (1) Pro at the centre of Nothing’s latest push into premium audio.

With the Headphone (1) Pro, Nothing is positioning itself more firmly in the premium wireless headphone market. Its combination of triple-driver audio, adaptive ANC, spatial audio, studio tuning, Bluetooth 6.1 and long battery life gives the company a more ambitious offering than its first-generation headphones.

The main question for Indian buyers remains availability. While the product is already listed on Nothing’s India website, official Indian pricing and a launch date have not been announced.
