Five medals put India in Cannes Lions spotlight

Creative agencies secure medals as global advertising festival begins

India has made a promising start at the 73rd Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, winning five awards in the opening two days of the world’s biggest celebration of advertising and creative excellence. The early success has put Indian agencies firmly on the global creative map, with campaigns across health, radio, pharma and film craft earning recognition.

On the first day of the festival, India secured two Silver Lions and two Bronze Lions. Among the standout winners was Leo India, which earned a Silver Lion for PepsiCo Sting’s campaign, The Unofficial Official Sound of F1. Another Silver went to Indianis Dentris, a campaign for Colgate created by The Refinery Mumbai and Brand David Communications.

India’s Bronze Lions came from Ogilvy Mumbai’s Renu vs The City campaign for St. Jude India ChildCare Centres in the Health & Wellness category and Humour Me’s Sawaal Uthao campaign for Tata 1mg in the Pharma category. These wins highlighted the growing strength of Indian storytelling that combines creativity with social impact.

The momentum continued on Day Two when TBWA\Lintas Mumbai added another Bronze Lion to India’s tally. The agency was recognised in the Film Craft category for Don’t Look Up, a campaign created for Steadfast’s Fake Money Detector initiative. The award took India’s total medal count to five, comprising two Silvers and three Bronzes.

Globally, the festival announced winners across several prestigious categories, including Entertainment, Design, Digital Craft, Film Craft and Industry Craft. One of the biggest winners was Adidas’ Original Forever campaign, which claimed Grand Prix honours in both the Entertainment and Entertainment for Music categories. Festival organisers said this year’s winning work showcased how creativity, technology and cultural relevance are reshaping brand communication.

Held annually in Cannes, France, the festival brings together advertising agencies, brands, marketers and creative professionals from around the world. For India, the strong opening performance has generated optimism that more awards could follow as judging continues across the remaining categories.
