India cruise past Pakistan in World Cup opener

Strong all-round performance secures 64-run victory in opening match

India opened their Women’s T20 World Cup campaign with a commanding 64-run win over Pakistan, delivering a strong all-round performance in a high-pressure clash.

Batting first, India put up a competitive total built on steady contributions from the top and middle order. The innings saw controlled aggression, with batters rotating strike well and accelerating in the later stages to set a challenging target.

Pakistan’s bowlers tried to apply pressure but struggled to break partnerships consistently. India’s calculated approach ensured they maintained control throughout the innings and finished with a strong score on the board.

In reply, Pakistan’s chase never gained momentum. Indian bowlers struck early and continued to take wickets at regular intervals, preventing any meaningful recovery. The batting line-up faltered under sustained pressure and failed to build partnerships.

The disciplined bowling effort ensured Pakistan were bowled out well short of the target, giving India a comfortable win in their opening fixture.

The victory gives India a strong start to the tournament and important momentum going forward in the group stage. It also highlights the team’s balanced performance with both bat and ball contributing effectively.

Former India cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin also commented on India’s campaign, pointing out that while the team looks well-rounded, improving power-hitting in the middle order could be important against stronger opposition later in the tournament.

With this win, India begin their World Cup journey on a confident note, while Pakistan will look to regroup after a disappointing start.
