Meta has unveiled a new generation of AI-powered smart glasses in collaboration with eyewear giant EssilorLuxottica, marking its latest effort to make wearable technology more mainstream. Priced from $299, the new Meta Glasses combine everyday eyewear with artificial intelligence features designed to help users stay connected without constantly reaching for their smartphones.
The launch represents a significant milestone in Meta’s broader ambitions in the wearable technology space. While the company previously partnered on smart glasses under the Ray-Ban and Oakley brands, the latest collection carries Meta’s own name, reflecting its growing confidence in the category.
The new range offers 26 different styles, giving consumers a wider choice of frame designs, colours and lens options. Prescription lenses are also available, allowing users to wear the glasses throughout the day as part of their regular routine. Among the standout designs are the Adventurer and Fury models, alongside a sleek oval-shaped version developed with media personality Kylie Jenner.
The glasses are powered by Meta AI, which enables users to interact through natural voice commands. Wearers can ask questions, seek information, manage tasks and receive assistance without using their hands. The device also includes integrated cameras, microphones and open-ear speakers, allowing users to take photos, record videos, answer calls and listen to audio while remaining aware of their surroundings.
Meta says the glasses will become even more capable through future software updates. Planned features include live language translation, navigation assistance and additional AI-powered tools aimed at enhancing everyday convenience.
The company believes smart glasses could emerge as the next major computing platform, offering a more seamless way to access information compared to traditional smartphones. By placing AI directly in front of users, Meta hopes to make digital interactions more natural and less intrusive.
