Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has revealed that he was treated for prostate cancer and is now in good health after a successful medical procedure.
In a statement and medical update, Netanyahu said the condition was detected during a routine check-up, where doctors found a small, early-stage tumour. He underwent targeted treatment, including radiation therapy, which he says successfully addressed the issue.
The 76-year-old leader said the cancer was caught early and had not spread, allowing doctors to treat it effectively. Medical reports confirm that he is now free of the disease.
Netanyahu also shared that he delayed making the information public, saying he did not want his health condition to become a political issue during a sensitive period of regional tensions.
He was treated at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem and is reported to have continued working during parts of his treatment. Officials say his overall condition remains stable and he is carrying out his duties as usual.
Netanyahu said he now feels well and thanked the medical team for their care. He added that he intends to continue his work without interruption.
The announcement comes after earlier reports that he had undergone prostate surgery in late 2024 for a non-cancerous condition. Follow-up tests later revealed the early-stage cancer, which was then treated promptly.
Doctors involved in his care described the outcome as positive, noting that early detection played a key role in the successful treatment.
