Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched and inaugurated development projects worth more than ₹22,000 crore across Gujarat, Daman and Diu, and Lakshadweep, underscoring the government’s focus on infrastructure development, connectivity and economic growth.
The projects cover a wide range of sectors, including roads, ports, urban infrastructure, tourism, renewable energy, water supply and public services. Officials said the initiatives are aimed at improving quality of life, strengthening regional connectivity and creating new economic opportunities for local communities.
A significant portion of the investment is directed toward Gujarat, where several infrastructure and industrial projects were unveiled. These projects are expected to support manufacturing, logistics and business activity while generating employment opportunities. The state has been a major beneficiary of government-led infrastructure investments in recent years.
In the Union Territory of Daman and Diu, projects focused on urban development, transportation and public amenities. Authorities said the initiatives would help modernize civic infrastructure and support tourism, one of the region’s key economic sectors.
Lakshadweep also received major development projects aimed at improving connectivity, sustainable tourism and essential public services. The government has been working to strengthen infrastructure in the island territory while balancing environmental conservation and economic development.
Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the importance of infrastructure-led growth in driving economic progress and improving living standards. He said investments in transport, energy and public facilities are helping create jobs, attract investment and support long-term development.
Government officials noted that the projects are part of a broader strategy to enhance connectivity between regions and integrate remote areas into the country’s economic growth story. Improved transportation networks and modern infrastructure are expected to facilitate trade, tourism and investment.
The projects are also expected to generate employment during both the construction and operational phases. Authorities said local businesses and communities would benefit from increased economic activity and improved access to services.
