Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a series of major infrastructure projects in Rajasthan on Saturday, including India’s first greenfield refinery-cum-petrochemical complex, a new airport terminal in Jodhpur and the revamped UDAN regional connectivity scheme.
The biggest highlight of the visit was the launch of the greenfield refinery and petrochemical hub, a landmark project expected to strengthen India’s energy security, reduce dependence on imported petroleum products and create significant employment opportunities. The integrated facility is also expected to boost industrial development in Rajasthan and support the country’s growing energy needs.
The Prime Minister also inaugurated the newly built terminal at Jodhpur Airport, designed to improve passenger experience and accommodate rising air traffic in the region. The modern terminal is expected to enhance connectivity, support tourism and facilitate business travel across western India.
During the event, Modi launched the modified UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) scheme, aimed at expanding affordable regional air connectivity to smaller cities and remote areas. The revised programme seeks to improve access to air travel while supporting balanced regional development.
Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said India is moving ahead with confidence and determination, adding that the country no longer hesitates in taking bold decisions for development. He said large-scale investments in infrastructure are laying the foundation for faster economic growth, improved connectivity and greater opportunities for future generations.
Modi highlighted the government’s focus on expanding airports, strengthening transport networks and building world-class industrial infrastructure to support India’s long-term growth ambitions. He said these initiatives would generate employment, attract investment and improve the ease of doing business.
