Hamza Burhan, an alleged terror operative accused of involvement in the 2019 Pulwama attack, was reportedly killed by unidentified gunmen in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), according to media reports. The incident reportedly took place in Muzaffarabad, bringing renewed attention to individuals linked to major terror cases in the region.
Reports said Burhan sustained multiple bullet injuries after unidentified assailants opened fire on him. The identity of the attackers and the circumstances surrounding the incident have not yet been officially confirmed. Authorities are reportedly investigating the matter.
Burhan, also known as Arjumand Gulzar Dar, was a native of Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district and had allegedly been associated with terror-related activities for several years. Indian agencies had linked him to the banned outfit Al-Badr and accused him of playing a role in militant operations and propaganda activities.
He had also been named in investigations related to the Pulwama attack of February 2019, one of the deadliest terror incidents involving Indian security personnel. The attack killed more than 40 CRPF personnel after a suicide bomber targeted a convoy on the Jammu-Srinagar highway, leading to heightened tensions between India and Pakistan.
Indian authorities had designated Burhan as a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), citing his alleged involvement in anti-India activities and links to terror networks.
