The Devil Wears Prada 2 opens big globally

Streep-led sequel posts strong worldwide box office debut

The sequel The Devil Wears Prada 2 has opened to a strong global box office performance, marking one of the biggest film launches of 2026 so far. The film brings back the original cast, including Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci, and has drawn huge attention from audiences worldwide.

In its opening weekend, the film earned about $77 million in North America and around $156 million from international markets, taking its global total to roughly $233 million. The strong debut places it among the top global openings of the year.

Internationally, the film performed particularly well in Europe and Asia, where it recorded strong ticket sales driven by nostalgia and interest in the returning characters. Many markets reported it as the highest-grossing Hollywood opening of the year so far.

Industry experts say the film’s success is largely due to its nostalgic appeal. The original 2006 film became a cultural favourite, and the sequel’s return to the fashion world of Miranda Priestly has brought both old fans and new viewers back to cinemas.

The story continues in the world of high fashion and media, showing how characters adapt to a changing industry landscape. Early audience reactions have been positive, even though critical reviews are mixed. Strong word-of-mouth has helped boost its opening performance.

With an estimated production budget of around $100 million, the film is already on track toward profitability after just one weekend of release.
