The United States and Iran are reportedly preparing for another round of talks as early as Thursday, in a renewed effort to ease tensions and prevent further escalation.
According to reports, both sides are in discussions to resume negotiations after earlier talks failed to produce a breakthrough. A previous round of discussions reportedly stretched for hours but ended without agreement on key issues.
Officials say no final decision has been made yet, but there is growing willingness on both sides to return to the negotiating table. Diplomatic sources suggest that there is at least a basic agreement to continue dialogue.
Two possible venues are being considered for the next meeting—Islamabad and Geneva. However, the final location and timing are still being worked out.
The urgency comes from the approaching end of the current ceasefire, which is expected to expire on April 21. With tensions still high, both sides are under pressure to make progress before the deadline passes.
Earlier discussions reportedly made some headway, but major differences remain unresolved, particularly around Iran’s nuclear programme and related sanctions.
The situation remains uncertain, with no guarantee that the next round of talks will lead to a deal. However, the fact that both sides are still engaging suggests that diplomatic efforts have not stalled completely.
